Biography

Simone Mendes Rocha Diniz (born May 24, 1984, in Uibaí, Bahia, Brazil) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and instrumentalist, widely recognized for her contributions to the sertanejo and forró music scenes. She gained prominence as one half of the duo Simone & Simaria, also known as As Coleguinhas, alongside her sister Simaria Mendes. The duo was active from 2012 until their separation in 2022, after which Simone embarked on a solo career.

Simone was born into a humble family in Uibaí, Bahia. Her father, a diamond prospector, led the family to move across various towns in Brazil. During her childhood, Simone experienced significant hardships, including the loss of her father in 1994 due to a heart attack. These early life challenges profoundly influenced her personal and artistic development.

Simone's musical journey began at the age of 14 when she started performing as a backing vocalist for singer Frank Aguiar. In 2007, she and her sister Simaria joined the band Forró do Muído, gaining regional recognition in Brazil's Northeast. In 2012, the sisters formed the duo Simone & Simaria, achieving national fame with hits like "Loka" featuring Anitta, which became the most-watched Brazilian video at the time.

The duo's success was marked by several chart-topping albums and singles, blending traditional sertanejo with contemporary pop influences. Their dynamic performances and relatable lyrics resonated with a wide audience, solidifying their place in Brazilian music history.

Following the duo's separation in August 2022, Simone launched her solo career, continuing to captivate audiences with her powerful vocals and emotive performances. She has released several successful singles and albums, further establishing her as a prominent figure in the Brazilian music industry.

In 2013, Simone married airline pilot and businessman Kaká Diniz. The couple has two children: Henry, born on August 3, 2014, and Zaya, born on February 22, 2021. Simone often shares glimpses of her family life with fans, highlighting the importance of her role as a mother alongside her musical career.
