Ares, born Rens Ottema on December 2, 1995, in Oosterhout, Netherlands, is a Dutch rapper, producer, and singer. He began his musical journey at the age of 13, inspired by the Dutch rap duo The Opposites. In 2013, he released the track "Regenboog," which garnered positive feedback and led to a contract with the label Top Notch. After parting ways with Top Notch in 2017, Ares founded his independent label, 162 Records, allowing him full creative freedom. His music is known for its unique blend of hip-hop, soul, jazz, and synthesizer influences, often exploring themes of personal growth and self-discovery. His latest album, PHANTOM, introduces a self-described genre called 'Fantasy-Trap.'
