NEW ORLEANS, LA. (Top40 Charts) The Original Pinettes Brass Band is celebrating New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival with the release of a performance video of their new single "Ain't No City," a soulful homage to their hometown of New Orleans. The track will debut with a live performance during New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival at a celebratory event in the French Quarter this weekend. The Original Pinettes will be featured at a free concert at the Maison, a premier New Orleans music venue, on Sunday, May 4, 2014, along with Mannie Fresh and the New Breed Brass Band.
The Original Pinettes Brass Band has a unique history, with chapters currently being written as they continue to succeed in breaking boundaries in the brass world. The Original Pinettes is an all-female, New Orleans-based group of musicians originally formed in 1991 by students at St. Mary's Catholic School. This past year, the Original Pinettes competed in the 2013 Red Bull Street Kings brass band blowout, held under the Claiborne Bridge in the Tremé. The band bested the competition, marking the necessity to change the winner's title from Street Kings to "Street Queens." As winners, the Original Pinettes received a three-day trip to the Red Bull Studios New York for a professional recording session with mentors Trombone Shorty and Mannie Fresh.
The Original Pinettes Brass Band are among a select group of Red Bull artists and athletes to be featured in their own spot complementing the latest World of Red Bull campaign.
