About Pulling Punches

Having great record collections simply wasn't enough for the five members of Philly-based hardcore band Pulling Punches. These guys grew up going to shows - a lot of them. They grew up buying and trading records - a lot of them. Now they're the ones playing the shows and making the records, but every note is imbued with a love of punk and hardcore that runs decades deep and, in its current manifestation, sounds like a tower of brutal yet melodic hardcore built on solid Youth Crew foundations. With a bruising live show and a new record to match, Pulling Punches is already leaving a distinct mark on the Philly hardcore scene, and there's plenty more where that came from.

Pulling Punches' Former Friends out April 29, 2014 on Universal Warning Records

They say that depression is anger turned inward. Well for Philly-based post-hardcore quintet Pulling Punches, that anger comes spilling back out into a tidal pool of beauty and aggression. Witness "Bomb Psychology," the single and accompanying video for their new album Former Friends due out this month on Universal Warning Records. Featuring soaring, harmonized lead lines paved over carefully syncopated rhythms, "Bomb Psychology" offers a jarring and memorable intro to Pulling Punches' way of doing things. Engineered and mixed by Creep Records' Arik Victor, Former Friends hits the street on April 29.
