LOS ANGELES (AP) -Madonna is to make her debut as a movie producer. After years of trying to break into film acting, she's moved swiftly to a behind the scenes role.

Madonna is to produce a film about female rodeo riders.

"Rodeo Queen" is to be directed by Dewey Nicks, a former fashion photographer, reports Madonnarama.com.
"This is such a strong piece of nostalgic American culture, and with Madonna at the forefront, people are rediscovering this style of rodeo in fashion," said Nicks.

Madonna's recent "Don't Tell Me" saw her in rodeo gear, highlighting the fashion for cowboy hats and boots.

The film centres around four women's struggle to be the Rodeo Queen of Llano, Texas.
