New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The rap team of Sha-D and DC have released their latest official single track, "I'm Gone." The single comes from the larger official LP mixtape, "State of Mind." Both bodies of music have been released on the What If Y Not Entertainment record label (often stylized WiYnE) one of the hip-hop genre's most remarkable and creative rising-star companies. "I'm Gone" by Sha-D and DC represents the most prominent publication from the duo and What If Y Not Ent. in recent months, and is slated to become available from online outlets soon after 20 March 2014.
DC and Sha-D (short for Derrick Carl Onuoha and Shakeem Durden, respectively) are urban poets from the New Jersey area, one of the world's oldest hotbeds of underground hip-hop music. DC has been described by WIYNE as having been led to music via an arduous and gritty youth in Newark.
"He remembers growing up and not always having the luxury of certain things that his peers around him had," writes the New Jersey label on his behalf. "Making music is his passion. He loves the way it makes him feel whenever he produces a track or writes to a song or makes a hot club beat … For him, being a DJ and a rapper is like getting the best of both worlds. He loves the way he can put mixes together and write verse and have the whole audience relate to him and flow with everything that he says."
Brought up in Asbury Park, Shakeem Durden attended high school at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology, where he started a column in his school newspaper called "The Notebook." In it he would draw, write poems, short stories, and riddles, as well as showcase his fellow classmates' talents.
"Since high school he has combined his passion for music along with his passion for the arts and poetry together," writes What If Y Not Ent.
