BURBANK, CA. (Reprise/Warner Bros. Records) - "American Idiot," the long-awaited new album from Green Day on Reprise Records, was released today.
The epochal trio's first new album since 2000's "Warning" contains the new single "American Idiot," as well as "Jesus Of Suburbia," a mini-rock opera that features such new originals as "I Don't Care," "City of the Damned," "Dearly Beloved" and "Tales of Another Broken Home."

Since its release, the title track has also shot to Number One on the Modern Rock Chart. It has been deemed Buzzworthy by MTV; Artist of the Month on Launch, the music destination of Yahoo!; and Green Day has received extensive media attention in both the alternative and mainstream press, as well as such music publications as Alternative Press, Spin, Bass Player, Drum and Guitar World. Upon release of the album, Newsweek called "American Idiot," "...one of the best rock albums and the biggest surprise of the year."

The band performed "American Idiot" on the "Late Show with David Letterman" last night with special guest, Senator John Kerry (see attached). Green Day recorded "Sessions@AOL," to also be aired later this month on Fuse.
One of the most explosive live bands in modern music, Green Day will launch an extensive North American tour later this fall.
