New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Stephen Farrell official website) With the recent release of his "My One True Valentine" single, PNP jazz artist Stephen Farrell will be debuting his first self-titled album on March 25, 2014. The album was produced by Farrell, Perry Pansieri and Bill Szawlowski (Robbie Roberson, April Wine,
Oliver Jones, Cirque du Soleil) and features 14 soulful tracks based on the themes of love and romance.
Describing himself as an eclectic crooner, Farrell is someone who pours his heart, soul, and passion into every song created and produced. During his 40 year career, this Montreal musician has played and shared the stage with artists such as
Oliver Jones,
Roger Kelloway, Serge Fiori, Michel Donato and Gene Lees.
Incorporating flute, piano and string arrangements, "Bossa Never Dreamed" kicks off the album in Bossa Nova style, while "Whale Out Of Water" soon follows delivering humorous lyrics and an acoustic upright bass combo. The song also features a nice interplay of solos between guitar, trombone and B3 Organ.
Following the romantic "My One True Valentine" is "When You Do That Thing You Do", bringing a jazzy samba element into the mix. The song captures the feelings of joy and enchantment a person feels when they meet that special someone. "
Last To Know" has a rich and mellow arrangement, along with Farrell's soothing vocals creating a relaxing melody. "
Last To Know" deals with heartbreak and falling out of love, infusing instruments such as the piano, trumpet, trombone and saxophone.
Farrell draws from a variety of musical influences from legendary jazz pop vocalists Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Louis Armstrong to rock stars Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and
Rolling Stones to the R&B soul of Stevie Wonder,
Ray Charles and Otis Redding to poets Leonard Cohen,
Tom Waits and Bruce Cockburn.
