SXSW Presents: Senor Faraon - (Sounds Of Uruguay) - March 12 At The Speakeasy
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ ER:M+M) Señor Faraón is the solo project of musician Ismael Varela (1986, Montevideo, Uruguay). On his first album "Siguiendo Al Rayo", which came out in 2009, he plays blues with great understanding and skill but also with a deep personal quirky touch, giving his music a unique feeling.

The disc was a great success in Uruguay and neighbouring countries. The following year he brough out his second album "Las Ultimas en Inglés", in which he left English songs behind and moved into more home-grown versions of the blues and world music.

His lyrics take us into his private world, and in his live performances he draws the audience into an intimate atmosphere in which the songs are the protagonist. He is currently recording the original music for the uruguayan film "Clever" and also hIs third album to came out this year.
