LOS ANGELES (www.meganslankard.com) - 21 year-old singer/songwriter Megan Slankard, of Northern California, saw her fan base grow even more after her national television makeover on The Learning Channel's What Not To Wear re-aired several times the week of September 6. The show, which featured Megan's songs "Too Bad You" and "Mockingbird" as she got the look of a rock star, originally aired on July 16 and generated a flurry of web activity and CD sales that had the music industry buzzing almost instantly.
After the most recent air dates, Megan's website saw a direct correlation between the TLC show and traffic, as the average of 1,000 or 2,000 hits jumped to almost 60,000 after each show.

Megan's CD, Freaky Little Story, is currently the No 2 seller on CD Baby and No 6 on Amazon.
She is also currently featured on KFOG's Local Scene, the latest compilation from San Francisco AAA radio station KFOG, with "Too Bad You," which the station is also playing. Additional radio stations with Megan in heavy rotation are KOSO in Modesto (she is also nominated for a Modesto Area Music Award in the pop category) and KQPT in Chico.
She has also recently been featured in Acoustic Guitar, Rockgrl Magazine, and online sources Fresh Tracks and Women In Rock. If that's not enough, Megan also co-wrote and performed the title track to founding Dire Straits member David Knopfler's new record, Ship of Dreams.

With a smooth, bluesy voice rich beyond her years, Megan Slankard weaves perceptive lyrics with the acoustic-driven alt-pop of her backing band. She's got the edge of Alanis Morrisette, the rhythm of Ani DiFranco, the soul of Patty Griffin and the cute girl-next-door voice of Lisa Loeb.

Megan, who has lived in Northern California all her life, began guitar lessons at the age of ten when she received a Beatles songbook as a gift. A few years later she started singing and composing her own songs, and at age fifteen landed her first paying gig at a local bar and grill.
Her love of music grew from the Beatles to encompass a wide variety of styles, from the acoustic rock sounds of Counting Crows and John Mayer, to the modern jazz of Al Jarreau and bluesy rock of Blues Traveler.
