LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Vision Music Promotions) Formed at work simply for the joy of playing loud the band soon found that what we were doing was starting to sound good. Sonic Kimono are a psychedelic rock duo featuring Roy Large on guitars and vocals and Oliver Sayers on guitars. The rest of the band is brought to life through the means of backing tracks recorded by Roy and Oliver to supplement the guitars on stage and record - this usually involves adding acoustic guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and any other weird noises we can find. Don't be fooled by just seeing two guys on stage; Sonic Kimono have a full and exciting sound!
Their songs demonstrate a range of sounds and styles; whilst always nodding to the late Sixties and early Seventies they are by no means a "Sounds Just Like..." kind of band - there's a difference between influence and blatant rip off! The band have also played at several venues in their local area including the Night & Day café in Manchester and The Good Ship in London and have made it through to the Semi Finals of a local Battle of the Bands competition. Stage performances are notable for their loud shirts; loud guitars and energy filled playing. Main influences include The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Kinks, The Smiths, REM, David Bowie, The Byrds - but their sound is original.
"Coffee & Cake" is the first release from upcoming album "Movers & Shakers". Written by Roy it details a trip to another country that blows the mind of the visitor. Featuring a catchy riff, rotating keyboards and crashing guitar work; the song is at once both extremely hummable and completely different in its mix of sounds.
