New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Big Apple Style Marketing) This week, Harlem native and lyricist Kawan "$tat" Parker released his fifth studio mixtape. The aptly titled "Made in '88" album features gritty beats and slick lyrics that are sure to resonate with Hip Hop and especially NYC Hip Hop fans. Drawing inspiration from his life experiences, $tat builds a story over the course of 13 tracks that highlights a hunger and realness that is especially unique to the Hip Hop genre. His music is simultaneously unapologetic as he truthfully acknowledges his talents and dreams while still maintaining a sense of humility tied to the ongoing uphill journey of his musical career.
$tat kicked off his album's release with a private listening party this past Tuesday January 28th, which was hosted at The Brewery Recording Studio in Williamsburg Brooklyn where he produced "Made in '88". Guests were able to preview the album while connecting directly with him and featured artists from select tracks to share their lyrical inspirations for the mixtape. The event was also sponsored by the unique East Coast based spirits brand, Western Whiskey.
$tat is a Harlem native lyricist who has made it a priority to maintain his focus and not let his hometown drag him down like many of the talents that reside there. He was quickly exposed to legends like Michael Jackson, The Isley Brothers, Al Green and Marvin Gaye. His love for hip-hop began at the age of eight when he started purchasing albums on his own. Always known to rap for fun to his friends, he began to take it seriously when he turned 18 and has yet to look back on his goal.
Inspired by the likes of Jay-Z, Kanye West, Fabolous, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Mase, Diddy and DMX among others, his versatility is obvious throughout his music. He raps with a confidence that all seem to enjoy. $tat touches on things that he has seen growing up in Harlem and he's not afraid to give his perspective or put his personal life in his lyrics. Equipped with lyricism, flow and excellent beat selection, he will prove to be a force in this business.
