New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Aurovine) Arkansas Prog-rockers, Rhythm of Mars are in the news again with their latest LP release Window of Destiny, and its quite clear that there is something in here for everyone. The 3 piece led by virtuoso guitarist Aaron Straub and keyboardist/composer Patti Unruh have hit a sweet spot on this release with Straub's crisp guitar work taking centre stage.
From the classic rock riffs and prog story telling of Houdini the opening track on this Extended EP (a mini album) to the very artistic track Pleiadian where our Dungeon and Dragon friends would appreciate the mystical story telling prowess.
The sublime Labyrinth was recently featured on an Aurovine compilation and is a jazzy complex piece with fast and intricate acoustic guitar work. The compositional qualities are diverse - ranging from irish folk through to progressive rock.
The spanish flavoured Masquerade is another superb composition showing Straub is equally at home playing flamenco style guitar as he is with the full on electric sound all the way to the very last track where the entire album culminates in to a blend and fusion of genre and guitar styles which is orchestrated and delivered with aplomb.
Not for the faint hearted but if you have a little musical adventurer in you then this is a journey you won't want to miss.
