NASHVILLE, TN. (Vivaton Records ) - Shelia Shipley Biddy, Vivaton's Executive VP of National Promotion and Artist Development announced today that the label's mainstay artist Mark Chesnutt must take a bit of a break from his promotional tour and performance schedule this week. Chesnutt, who has played more than 150 dates since the beginning of the year-with nearly 20 shows in August alone-and who has met the demands of a hefty radio and media schedule the last several months, returned from the road this weekend suffering from severe laryngitis. Mark has received strict medical instruction to take a brief hiatus from any and all vocal activity forcing him to cancel special promotions and appearances, media opportunities and shows scheduled for this week. "This is disappointing news; not only to me, because playing is what I do, but because there are people out there that I have made commitments to," says Mark, "but, I've done this long enough to know that if the doc says to lay low, that's what I need to do, for my health, my career and for my fans who have always been out there year after year to support me and my music. I'm just hoping everyone will support me in this." In support of Chesnutt's new album SAVIN' THE HONKY TONK under the Vivaton logo, Mark began his formal campaign to Save the Honky Tonk in July. An official web site has been dedicated to the album-www.savinthehonkytonk.com. Mark will return to his regularly scheduled program next week as he embarks on a road trip with FOX to save the honky tonks in Texas as part of his album release activities. The official release date of SAVIN' THE HONKY TONK is September 21. Mark will celebrate the release in his home state with friends, family and fans on Friday, September 24, with a special performance at Gilley's in Dallas.
