NEW YORK (Double Dos Recordings/ www.theglassesmusic.com) - After a year of sickening ups and downs and a blur of shows and rehearsals, the self-titled full-length debut from Seattle indie rockers the Glasses is set to drop
September 28th.
The Album, produced by Zack Reinig (Hint Hint, Blonde Redhead), continues down the path of sonic exploration that was evident on the band's debut ep 'Sunbreaks'. Reinig was able to dial the band in and focus their sound while still maintaining the Glasses? signature post garage sound. He was also able to coax some pretty impressive sounds out of the band to provide texture that is several layers deep.
"This (record) has been a long time coming" according to Will Wagler, the Glasses' front man and the primary song writer on the disc. A sentiment that's evident from the band's path over the past two and a half years. Sunbreaks was released on upstart Seattle label nadamucho.com records ? a subsidiary of the online 'zine of the same name. Since that release, the landscape around the band has changed significantly.
Each of the members of the band comes from a staggering number of previous projects in and around the Seattle area. Despite a somewhat shaky start, after the demise of Wagler's previous project Seymorglass, the current line up came together in the fall of 2003 and the future of the Glasses started to become clear. What was increasingly clear is that the Glasses had something to say, but didn't necessarily have the means to say it.
Seattle new comer Double Dos Recordings picked up the Glasses shortly before they entered the studio. Timing couldn't have been better. This provided the band with the support that they needed to make the upcoming CD a success.
The Glasses' CD will be available online through CDBaby.com as well as through local independent record stores in the Seattle area.
