NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - Usher led the field with four nominations when nominees were announced in Los Angeles Tuesday for the 32nd annual American Music Awards.
The 25-year-old singer was nominated for favorite Pop/Rock Male Singer and his album, Confessions, was nominated for favorite Pop/Rock Album. Usher was also nominated for favorite Soul/R&B Male Singer, and Confessions was nominated for favorite Soul/R&B Album.

Other nominations include Sheryl Crow, Avril Lavigne and Jessica Simpson for the Pop/Rock Female Artist award; Beyonce, Janet Jackson and Alicia Keys for the Soul/R&B Female Artist award; and Jay-Z, Juvenile, Lil' Flip and Kanye West for the Rap/Hip-Hop Male Artist. Incubus was nominated for the Alternative Music Artist award, along with Linkin Park and the Australian band Jet. In the Breakthrough New Artist category, Maroon 5 goes up against Kanye West and Gretchen Wilson.

AMA nominations are based upon radio play and sales numbers, and winners are decided through a listener survey. Tune in to ABC on November 14, when the winners will be announced. Jimmy Kimmel of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" hosts the 2004 AMAs.
