SAN FRANCISCO, CA. (RCA Records) - Just one day before kicking off a three-hour benefit concert in Golden Gate Park, Dave Matthews Band was honored by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom with a proclamation declaring Sunday, September 12, 2004 Dave Matthews Band day in the city by the bay.
The mayor met with the band on stage at soundcheck the day prior to the concert, which will raise at least $1 Million for local charities.

This is the second year in a row that Dave Matthews Band has performed a major benefit concert in a unique outdoor setting. Last year the band raised more than $2 Million for New York City's public schools and parks when they played a free concert on the Great Lawn in Central Park.
