Toledo, OH (Top40 Charts/ Toledo Symphony) The Toledo Symphony presents spooky concerts for both adults and kids in October.
First up, on October 18 & 19, the TSO brings a wide range of Halloween-themed classics to the Peristyle. Audiences will enjoy Weber's "Ruler of the Spirits," Franck's "The Accursed Huntsman," and Arnold's "Tam O'Shanter Overture."
After intermission, the orchestra will perform the Toledo premier of a wild and zany new piece called "Frankenstein!!" A full-fledged departure from the story we know, Frankenstein!! is more of a weird romp through the imagination. TSO cellist and narrator, Robert Clemens, will read and sing poetic text that conjures images of
James Bond, John Wayne, monsters, Superman, Batman and, of course, Frankenstein. The orchestra will play on a variety of toy instruments, along with their usual ones. For example, audiences will enjoy the sounds of a teeny-tiny piano.
The program concludes with Leopold Stokowski's beloved arrangement of the Bach organ Toccata and Fugue in D minor for full orchestra. Tickets start at $22.
Then, on October 27th, the Symphony presents its beloved children's Halloween Spooktacular at an exciting new venue--The
Valentine Theatre.
Pre-concert activities (starting at 2pm) include fun craft projects, a concert by string students from concert sponsor Maumee Valley Country Day School, an instrument petting zoo and more.
During the concert, kids can walk across stage in our annual costume parade, and will thrill to larger than life puppets thanks to Toledo School for the Arts.
The program includes music from Star Wars, Harry Potter and the classics "Sorcerer's Apprentice" and "Monster Mash."
Tickets for kids are just $10, and available by calling 419-246-8000 or visiting ToledoSymphony.com.
