NEW YORK (Blue Eyed Crow/ www.bobbylindstrom.com) - Yes folks, Bobby Lindstrom is taking blues and rock by storm with his latest, "A Lick and a Promise". The album is a mix of blues soul, and a rocker heart, fueled by the collaboration with producer Sam Densmore (of Silverhawk), who was raised on a steady diet of early 80's college rock dominated by Husker Du, The Replacements, and, most of all. R.E.M. When you take a man who has been playing blues music for well over three decades, put him in the studio with a power-pop songwriter who also loves country, alt. country, and classic rock, interesting things are to happen!

Indeed, they did, as "A Lick and a Promise" attests to. For an artist who has spent over 30 years of his life playing clubs with the likes of Big Brother and the Holding Company, Clarence Clemmens, Henry Vestine of Canned Heat, and others, "A Lick and a Promise" is a stretch for Lindstrom.

It is a musical leap, a challenge Lindstrom was more than willing to take. Bobby Lindstrom comments, 'Although "A Lick & A Promise" is a compillation of music written and re-written between 1988 and 2003, the direction I seem to be taking is one of more awareness and openness than some of the songs express. The Blues is where our music came from and I am honored to be able to try and pass on that knowledge. Country, Rock, Jazz, and all of their offshoots started with the Blues. The Blues is sometimes a sad thing and sometimes happy but always it has the ring of the Truth to it.' Here is the type of record an artist dreams of making, if only to prove to himself he can incorporate all the sounds he grew up with on one record.

Lindstrom does that, gracefully, and with style. Heavy on the blues, and the rock, Lindstrom and Densmore's collaboration reaps the fruit of two very different upbringings, two very different musical listening tastes, and two different ways to approach songwriting. But, they come together and do it well, working as a team to make "A Lick and a Promise" the best they could. So, do me a favor and give it a spin - let me know what you think. I'll be calling you soon to follow-up.
