New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Sourmouth official website) "Life of a Soldier". Wow! Its a common title amongst Hip-Hop songs, so I almost passed it on by while sampling his music. This is Hip-Hop at its best in my opinion. Incredible lyrics to uplift and support a positive cause. This is a timeless song, a song that will be played long after me, you and our kids are gone. The way Sourmouth lyrically rides the smooth laid back beat, while staying on topic will blow your mind.
"Life of a Soldier" is a song by an artist out of Portland, Oregon named "Sourmouth". It is, dare I say, commercial or radio friendly, with a catchy pop beat from Cinima Beats Productions. I don't like pop. I Fucken Hate it! But I wrote this review. This isn't the type of music I cover in my blog. But I did. It's that live. The song is a story portraying both sides of the struggle that comes with being a soldier. One being the soldier's struggle, the other being his wife's. In three verses, Sourmouth takes you on a spot-on journey of a soldier's tour overseas, touching on facts and feelings that would make any war vet shed a tear. Seriously, if i hadn't read Sourmouth's profile, I would have thought he was a soldier himself. Sourmouth touches on the effects of post-traumatic stress, on soldiers coming home, and the worry their wives go through wondering if they are ok. Accompanied by a beautiful sample, the hook will make you feel proud. Proud to be an American. I don't deny when this song gets around that it will be in every soldier's, or army wife's playlist.
The song is awesome. The artist is awesome. The whole album is awesome. I just bought it! Go get yourself a copy "Sourmouth", "The Mr. Federal LP". We will also be sure to keep you up to date on any future Sourmouth news or projects as well. Stay tuned!
