DJ Kurupt wins UMA's Mixtape DJ of The Year Award

NEW YORK (Underground Awards Website/ www.djkurupt.com) - Taking off with the first award of the night, DJ Kurupt was the obvious winner for the Best Mixtape DJ of the Year. Although DJ Kurupt has been nominated in the past at the Justos Mixtape Awards, this was his first acknowledgement and clearly the start of what's to come. 'I'm grateful for this but it?s not my last. Lookout Justos!' exclaimed the Master Jedi, who was also a special guest on the night. ?We makin real hip-hop. We doin it for the street' he continued.

The 2nd Annual Underground Music Awards were created to honor the achievements and contributions of unsigned and independent underground urban music artists. Winners were chosen by popularity and votes on the Hip Hop Palace website.

DJ Kurupt (DJ, Producer, & Entrepreneur) has had a phenomenal year, keeping the streets hot with mixtape after mixtape, sometimes numerous releases in a week. With Team Jedi, TruHustlaz Entertainment and Streetcorner Radio, DJ Kurupt and his team plan on keeping the streets on lock with their media empire.

DJ Kurupt was also filming his forthcoming DVD on the night, expected to be in stores late next month. The DVD, brought to you by Backyard Entertainment, will contain exclusive footage and interviews from the Underground Music Awards.

Also hitting the streets by DJ Kurupt is THE FUTURE album. Produced by DJ Kurupt, THE FUTURE is an original streetalbum showcasing the hottest talent on the streets (both signed & unsigned).
