WALNUT CREEK, CA. (Owl Eye Records/ www.owleyerecords.com/ www.sablewinters.com/bio.htm) - Jazz singer and performer Sable Winters has released a long awaited CD entitled "This Is Always" on independent label Owl Eye Records. The title song was originally performed in the
20th Century Fox Musical, "Three
Little Girls in Blue".
Music is by Harry Warren and lyrics by Mack Gordon. The debut CD arranged and produced by the Bay Area vocalist is a fresh synthesized Jazztronica experiment. Classic jazz tunes infused with modern textures while maintaining true jazz elements incorporates a balance of smooth jazz, Latin flavor and a mild urban beat." The goal was to step outside of the typical lounge sound and offer up something of a new jazz vocal flavor.
When asked why the CD doesn't stick to the standard jazz template Sable explains, "I read in an online jazz forum comments in an on-going International debate about how
America increasingly lacks originality in its sound. Writing that every other song sounds the same. That's not me."
The ten track standards laced CD comes on the heels of years of traditional format piano/vocal and trio backed live performances beginning in Atlanta, Georgia in the late 1980's. Full-length audio in RealAudio format can be sampled from the "Discography" page at her web site.
The track list and sound description is as follows:
