Bedroom Rocker Late Reader Releases Free Two Song EP
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Late Reader official website) Said Gun guitarist Ben Norris is releasing a free download of his debut EP under the moniker Late Reader. The Epic Fantasy EP melds swirling guitar layers with organ lines, synthesizers and plenty of reverb for a lush sounding debut that's rough around the edges in true bedroom rock fashion.

Standout track "Wear Your Darkness" beautifully intertwines synth strings with tremolo-laced guitar for a spooky ambient vibe with vocal imagery that summons ghosts and buried memories. The lyrics are soft and haunting.

"Northern Reaches" hints at Norris' punk rock roots with overdriven guitars. It veers into reverb-drenched shoegaze with the pace being kept by sloppy programmed drums. It's a lo-fi offering from a musician who derives inspiration from gritty pop punk and small warehouse shows.

While it's something of a departure from the kind of rough around the edges punk Norris plays with Said Gun, the Epic Fantasy EP shows the same attention to melody and songcraft. At times it's as grimy, unpolished and unproduced as you'd expect from a solo bedroom rock project. Yet it's smooth enough to show that this style of songwriting and recording can continue to grow. Late Reader is a fledgling act with real staying power.
