 NEW YORK (Jazz News Website) - Tomorrow, Saturday, August 28, Lou Rawls will receive an honorary doctorate from Ohio's Wilberforce University for his 'life-long service to the education of historically disadvantaged populations.' The singer-humanitarian will receive his award during a concert performance at Fraze Pavilion in Kettering, Ohio. Since its launch in 1980, Rawls' annual star-studded telethon benefiting the United Negro College Fund has brought in over $200 million which has been used to educate thousands of African American students.
