NEW YORK (www.concordrecords.com) - The ever-inventive and always-innovative Chick Corea brings together the original members of the Elektric Band for the first time in over a decade for To The Stars. "Making this album has been the dream of a lifetime come true," says the 12-time Grammy winner, whose inspiration for the CD came from the L. Ron Hubbard science fiction novel of the same name. "This project is my favorite recording." Along for the intergalactic musical journey are Eric Marienthal, Frank Gambale, John Patitucci and Dave Weckl, all universally admired and respected musicians. To The Stars is in stores today. In addition to the new recording, the Elektric Band reunites for a nationwide tour beginning in September in Los Angeles. Other dates are scheduled in Boston, New York, and DC in November. Others are likely to follow. Corea sums up the recording: "The Elektric Band had come back together after 10 years and the wide breadth of color and virtuosity that the band could ad hive became the ideal palette to realize this musical dream. But most importantly, the high spirits of the band became infectious and inspiration, enabling me to write this music in a very special way, knowing it would be so well-cared for by them."
