Yancy Takes A Musical Detour With Upcoming Adult-Focused Modern Worship Album
Nashville, TN (Top40 Charts/ Nashville Publicity) Yancy, Christian music's reigning Queen of Diversity, takes a bit of a departure with her upcoming album, "Roots for the Journey," which is due May 21st from Elevate Entertainment. Unlike the pre-teen targeted CD/DVD release "Jesus Music Box" which released last month, "Roots for the Journey" is focused squarely on the adults.

Inspired to extend her musical influence to the parents and church leaders her children focused-music has equipped over the years, Yancy's new adult-focused modern worship album started as a scripture-based lullaby project for her son. But as she worked in the studio, she realized that the music was shaping up to be something much more that what she first intended.

"'Roots for the Journey' is incredibly different musically from what I've done these past few years," says Yancy. "I'm so excited about this music that is unplugged, organic and simple. The songs are all based on scripture and the outcome is a really nice, chilled-out worship experience."

Produced by Stephen Leiweke (Sara Groves, Jars of Clay), "Roots for the Journey" features an all-star list of players including Leiweke on guitar, Chris Donohue (Emmylou Harris, Bart Millard) on bass, Matt Stanfield (Kutless, Norah Jones) on keys, drummer Ken Lewis (The Civil Wars, Amy Grant) and cello contributions from Sixpence None the Richer's Matt Slocum.

To help bridge this adult-oriented project with her younger fans, Yancy has created a free companion app that will help parents teach each song's scriptures and Biblical truths to their children through devotions, conversations, prayers and activities.

For more than a decade, Yancy has released radio friendly pop/rock albums and multiple projects for kids and young adults, all while sharing the stage with such artists as Mute Math, Newsboys and Nichole Nordeman. As a writer, Yancy has teamed up with Third Day's Mac Powell, wrote Avalon's #1 hit "I Don't Want To Go" (which Yancy covers on "Roots for the Journey") and Jaci Velasquez's "Something Beautiful," and still found the time to compose two devotional books for worship leaders and musicians and a devotional book for pre-teens.
