Dylan Champagne & The Lost Explorers Release New Album 'The Bones EP'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Independent rockers Dylan Champagne & the Lost Explorers have released their first official collection of music, an extended-play record titled, "The Bones EP." The release contains five original tracks for an approximate 20 minutes' worth of stylish, eclectic, high-octane listening. Fans of cult legends such as Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Pixies, and The Jesus and Mary Chain are certain to be enthusiastic about this first offering by Dylan Champagne and his Lost Explorers crew.

Champagne, who is a native of the same music hotbed of Northern California that gave the world experimental rock bands like Mr. Bungle, Neurosis, and Cake, is as passionate about his narrative-driven songwriting as he is about the overall sound of the resulting music. The tone of "The Bones" is dark, upbeat, rough, tough and strangely classy, not unlike a cross between London's The Libertines and an album by pre-eminent poet and legendary singer Leonard Cohen.

"This EP is an attempt to chart a tiny piece of the heart's terra incognita" Champagne writes of the record, "through an exploration of musical form and personal narrative."

This narrative is revealed to the listener as an audio collage of stories told through modern rock music, a raw, unique and colorful rock 'n' roll played with a heavy dose of swing and a surprising amount of depth and complexity.

"If it were a still-life painting," Champagne muses, "it could be described as 'narrative-driven indie with math rock and baritone.' It is a bit hectic, a bit controlled, a bit nostalgic. It is about connection and isolation, reconciliation, hope, mania, beauty, catharsis and longing."

To be sure, the EP is more than a collection of songs. It is character, personality, intellectuality and introspection, as well as groove, shake, and shadowy musical mojo.

Dylan Champagne formed The Lost Explorers in 2011 to perform his material live as a core trio. In addition to Champagne, they are drummer Andre Custodio of Say Bok Gwai, and bassist john Shiurba of Eskimo, and The Molecules. Their successful Kickstarter campaign resulted in a pivotal regional tour, as well as a 48-hr stint at San Francisco's Tiny Telephone music studio, where Jacob Winik recorded what would become "The Bones EP."

Champagne has also released two solo records on his own label, Broke in Oakland.
Dylan Champagne & the Lost Explorers' "The Bones EP" is available online worldwide April 8, 2013.
