Initial Agenda Announced For CISAC's World Creators Summit: Create *Connect* Respect June 4 & 5, 2013, Washington, DC
Paris, FranceY (Top40 Charts/ Jaybird Communications) Today CISAC (the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers) announced the preliminary agenda of the fourth biennial World Creators Summit "Create, Connect, Respect." Kicking off on June 3 with an evening cocktail reception and welcome from visual artist and CISAC President Hervé Di Rosa, the program will take place June 4-5, 2013, in Washington, DC, at the Ronald Reagan Center.

Formerly known as the World Copyright Summit, this conference is the leading international and cross-industry forum addressing the future of copyright, the creative community and the entertainment business in the digital economy. The agenda revolves around nine key questions:

1. What will be the future of creative industries in the digital age?
2. What are the consequences of the digital environment for creators?
3. What are the new business models for the creative industries?
4. Innovation & copyright - can the two co-exist?
5. Is the collective management of rights fit for the 21st Century?
6. What is the role of data, identifiers and tracking technologies in the new digital economy?
7. What are the key issues dominating the Copyright Agenda in the US and in Europe?
8. Are the BRICS countries growing the copyright "pie"?
9. Where do consumers fit in this ecosystem?

Based on this, the current agenda includes plenaries such as "Is Copyright a Barrier to Economic Growth?," "Trends in Collective Management," and "Disruption and Innovation: The Future of Copyright in the Digital Age;" breakout workshops on topics including "Focus on BRICs," "Accessing TV/Films Online," "The Business of eBooks," "Can Photographers Get Fair Deals?," "Updates on Anti-Piracy Legislation Around the World," and "A Guide to GRD." Attendees can also expect keynotes from leading experts and artists addressing these questions from different perspectives, as well as the presentation of several specially commissioned studies for the World Creators Summit.

"Every two years, we bring together the leaders from the creative arts, policy, copyright, rights management, technology and business interests from around the world to engage in real dialog about their roles in shaping the entire creative industry ecosystem," said Hervé Di Rosa. "In 2011, I was honored to share the stage with such luminaries as Victoria Espinel, White House Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator; the European Commissioners in charge of the Digital Agenda and the creative sector Neellie Kroes and Michel Barnier; Francis Gurry, WIPO Director General; Carlo d'Asaro Biondo, Google Vice President for Southern and Eastern Europe, MEA; Arnaud Nourry, Hachette Livre Chairman and CEO; Ivo Josipović, President of Croatia and a music composer; Jean Michel Jarre, French author, composer and performer; and Frank Stella, US painter and sculptor. We can expect that calibre of speaker on the agenda for 2013."

Registration is now open and will be 15% off the standard fees until March 31. Rates for CISAC member organizations are $840, Partner Organizations $970, and the Standard Rate is $1,100.

The last Summit was held June 7-8, 2011 in Brussels, and brought together over 730 participants from around the world, with 57 countries represented. A complete recap of the 2011 event, with video and photos, can be found online.
