Emile Welman Launches Solo Career
San Francisco, CA (Top40 Charts) Emile Welman, co-founder and musical force behind the South African a cappella group Overtone, is gearing up to launch his first solo project globally. As a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Emile developed quite the local reputation for his amazing vocal range and stage presence as a lead singer and front man, not to mention his smoldering good looks. His first single "Love Away" is scheduled for release in early 2013 and will help display his musical gift to the masses.

While with Overtone, Emile worked with Academy Award-winner Charlize Theron, hotelier Steve Wynn, and music icon Tony Bennett. Overtone has shared the stage with OneRepublic, Grammy Award-Winner Corrine Bailey Rae, actor Kevin Bacon, and producer David Foster. The band is also the proud recipient of several VONK awards from the prestigious South African music organization. Currently managed by Tunnel Vision Entertainment, Emile continues to attract fans to his unique sound.

For his new project Emile is showcasing his love of hip-hop and R&B, but with a little twist; or rather, swing. His crooning voice, with a range of over three octaves, naturally lends itself to the jazz and swing eras and he is intent on making jazz popular again, but with a hip-hop/R&B influence. In 2009, Dina Eastwood, wife of Mr. Eastwood discovered the band in Cape Town, South Africa. Impressed with Emile's exceptional vocals and the band's powerful presence, Clint tapped the band for numerous tracks to be featured in his film Invictus, including the standout "9,000 Days", co-written and performed by Welman. Overtone promoted the film by performing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and Lopez Tonight. "Emile Welman is the finest singer I have heard", adds Mrs. Eastwood, while the legendary Tony Bennett has compared Emile's vocals to "that of Frank Sinatra's".
