Time Life/Starvista Earns Grammy Nominations For Joan Osborne, Beatles Releases
Fairfax, VA (Top40 Charts) Time Life / StarVista announces that two of their recent releases have been nominated for Grammy Awards, including "Bring It On Home" by Saguaro Road Records artist Joan Osborne (Best Blues Album) and The Beatles' "First Recordings: 50th Anniversary Edition" (Best Album Notes) on Time Life. Time Life / StarVista and its imprint, Saguaro Road, have received seven Grammy Award nominations in the last 5 years.

Osborne's "Bring it On Home" was released in March to great critical acclaim. The New York Daily News named the album to its "Top Ten" in music list, noting that "she recasts the blues with her own grind and shout" and the New Yorker delighted in her "voice containing a rich mixture of colors….now she's come back to the blues." American Songwriter magazine added, "...Osborne injects tremendous passion into sides originally recorded by Ray Charles, Sonny Boy Williamson, Al Green, Otis Redding and others. When she digs into John Mayall's slow blues 'Broken Wings,' the emotional torrent obscured in the original is brought to the surface through her fiery vocals." And No Depression marveled, "Joan Osborne has a real hot record here. She has given the Blues a shot this time and, boy, it really works for her." Even London's Daily Express newspaper weighed in, describing, "Her voice is beautifully bluesy and wonderfully expressive while the music is soulful, sophisticated and slightly retro sounding, meaning the package reeks class as it moves between rowdy versions of songs such as 'Shoorah! Shoorah!' to deep soul versions of 'The Same Love That Made Me Laugh.'"

"Joan has been with us from the beginning, back when we first launched our Saguaro Road Record imprint," says Time Life / StarVista Senior VP Mike Jason, "and we always wanted to capture the blues part of her live shows. She really nailed it on this album."

Released in US by Time Life / StarVista in November 2011 (with the Bear Family record label releasing it in Europe), "The Beatles With Tony Sheridan: First Recordings: 50th Anniversary Edition" is a remarkable story, told through music, mementos and words, of a band on the cusp of changing music and pop culture forever. The collection is a fascinating and comprehensive view of one of the most important yet overlooked moments in Beatles history. Entertainment Weekly noted that the set "hints at the greatness to come" while calling Harrison's "Cry For a Shadow" one of its best tracks. Along with the songs, the box set includes a deluxe booklet which presents an in-depth look into the beginnings of the greatest and most influential group in pop music history. The Grammy nominated historical text by Beatles scholar Hans Olof Gottfridsson is complemented by rare and candid photos shot by Astrid Kirchherr, copies of contracts, and personal biographies handwritten by each member in 1961 as they sat at the kitchen table of their first producer, Bert Kaempfert. The earliest days of The Beatles have never been revisited in such detail.
