FRANKLIN, TN. (Top40 Charts) On December 5, 2012, artists, engineers, and composers from the Naxos of
America distribution family were honored with 27 GRAMMY nominations on 15 labels including Naxos, 2L, Cedille Records, Chandos, Compass Records, DSO Live, Metropolis Records, Naïve Classique, Oehms Classics, Ondine, Opus Arte, OUR Recordings, PentaTone Classics, Sono Luminus and Steinway & Sons. The honors for these artists appeared in the categories of Best Orchestral Performance, Best Choral Performance, Best Opera Recording, Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance, Best Classical Instrumental Solo, Best Classical Vocal Solo, Best Contemporary Classical Composition, Best Surround Sound Album, Best Engineered Album (Classical), Best Bluegrass Album, and Best Reggae Album. Producer of the Year, Classical nominations were also bestowed upon 4 producers whose bodies of work include many Naxos of
America distributed recordings.
Artists from a Naxos recording were nominated in a brand new GRAMMY category, Best Classical Compendium. Conductor Antoni Wit and producers Aleksandra Nagórko and Andrzej Sasin were nominated for their work on a recording of six orchestral works of Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki which covers almost 50 years of the composer's extensive oeuvre.
