Brits 2013 Announces Details Of Awards Night & Nominations Launch Unveiled
LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts) The BRIT Awards with MasterCard will take place on Wednesday 20th February at The O2 Arena for the third year running in the world's most successful music venue, which saw the Awards enjoy their highest TV viewing figures since 2005, peaking at 7.8 million.

The huge success of the show was also reflected in the surge in album sales for all the winners in the week following the awards. The two biggest winners on the night, Adele and Ed Sheeran, both saw their albums return to the Top Three, while albums from winners Emeli Sandé, Lana Del Rey and Coldplay all returned to the Top Ten. Blur's 'Best Of' re-entered the charts at number 22, more than a decade after its first release in 2000.

2013 will see The BRITs build on the changes that have been implemented over the last two years to deliver a show like never before. In 2011 The BRITs moved home to The O2 Arena, signalling an exciting new chapter for Britain's most prestigious music awards ceremony. Since then, a number of initiatives have seen the Awards re-energised, with the BRITs Committee continuing to review every aspect to ensure the event is the best celebration of the incredible calibre of British music.

Bespoke BRITs statue to be designed by Damien HirstDamien Hirst becomes the third British creative to put his unique stamp on the iconic trophy. Since 2011 when the 'blank canvas' trophy was given its inaugural makeover by fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood, The BRITs have been committed to working with the most innovative and original artists - those who help to inspire the British creatives of the future. The 2012 trophy was designed by legendary pop artist Sir Peter Blake. Visionary artist Hirst will continue the new tradition of awarding creativity with creativity. His work has been exhibited all over the world and is as iconic as the music celebrated at The BRIT Awards. His recent show at London's Tate Modern that was the most visited solo show and second-most visited exhibition in the gallery's history.

BRITs Chairman David Joseph said: "We are delighted that Damien will become the third extraordinary creative Briton to reimagine the BRIT statue. He is truly one of the most important British artists ever and his unique vision will make winning a 2013 BRIT an even more special proposition."
