My Morning Jacket Backs Alzheimer's Charity Music & Memory
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) Music & Memory, the non-profit organization using iPods to infuse life and memory into elders suffering with Alzheimer's, has garnered the support of My Morning Jacket, who are collecting old or unused iPods for the program at their August 19 Brooklyn, NY show at Williamsburg Park. Click here for ticket info and show details.

My Morning Jacket is just one of the artists who has shown support for Music & Memory, with Neko Case recently tweeting the website link to her fans. The organization provides nursing home residents with the music of their youth on digital devices, having found that it leads to increased social engagement and quality of life. It's the subject of the buzzed-about new documentary 'Alive Inside,' which is slated for release in 2013 and has already been covered in The New York Times, LA Times, CNN, NPR "Morning Edition," and more.

Watch an excerpt from 'Alive Inside' here which has received more than 7 million views.

Founded by Dan Cohen, a Long Island volunteer, social worker and former Department of Education consultant, Music & Memory began in 2008 when Cohen distributed 200 iPods in four New York City facilities and saw immediate benefits for the residents. The efforts have since spread to more than 50 nursing homes across the US.

iPods, iPads, and other Apple music players are being collected by Music & Memory on an ongoing basis. Click here to learn how to contribute: https://www.musicandmemory.org/give-an-ipod.html
