Six Emmy Nominations For George Harrison: Living In The Material World
SANTA MONICA, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Universal Music Enterprises) The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced its nominees for the 2012 Emmy Awards, honoring Martin Scorsese's film GEORGE HARRISON: LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD with a remarkable total of 6 nominations.

The film was nominated for Outstanding Nonfiction Special, Outstanding Cinematography For Nonfiction Programming, Outstanding Directing For Nonfiction Programming (Martin Scorsese), Outstanding Picture Editing For Nonfiction Programming, Outstanding Sound Editing For Nonfiction Programming (Single or Multi-Camera) and Outstanding Sound Mixing For Nonfiction Programming. The 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sunday, September 23 on ABC.

Academy Award®-winning director Martin Scorsese traces George Harrison's life from his musical beginnings in Liverpool through his life as a musician, a seeker, a philanthropist, and filmmaker. Scorsese weaves together interviews with Harrison and his closest friends, performances, home movies, and photographs. Much of the material in the film has never been seen (or heard) before. The result is a rare glimpse into the mind and soul of one of the most talented artists of his generation and a profoundly intimate and affecting work of cinema.

GEORGE HARRISON: LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD was produced by Scorsese (through his Sikelia Productions banner), Olivia Harrison (through her Grove Street Pictures banner) and Nigel Sinclair (through Exclusive's documentary label, Spitfire Pictures). Earlier this year, the film was honored with the Critic's Choice Award for Best Documentary Feature and nominated for Best Documentary Film by British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award. A deluxe edition 2-DVD set of the film debuted at No. 1 in North America in its first week of release. The DVD remained in the Top 5 spots on the charts for 5 consecutive weeks. The critically acclaimed DVD is Harrison's third No. 1 release, his highest charting DVD and was certified platinum by the RIAA in the U.S. and double platinum in Canada.
