New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Roc-A-Fella is synonymous with the rapper, businessman, NBA team owner, Jay-Z. A New York designer is suing Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella label partners for $7 million dollars in unpaid royalties for not being properly compensated for designing Roc-A-Fella's logo.
As released by NY DailyNews, the designer, Dwayne Walker filed the suit yesterday claiming he has not received sufficient royalties for designing the logo. He claims that in 1995, Damon Dash had a logo in mind and Walker told him he could do better and created the Roc-A-Fella we all recognize today.
From the lawsuit, 'The logo has become universally recognized as an iconic symbol of Jay-Z, one of the most successful recording artists in the history of popular music'.
Jay-Z is set to open Brooklyn's new Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets, with three shows on September 28th-30th.
