NEW YORK (Ja Rule Fans Website) - Rapper Ja Rule was charged with misdemeanour possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended licence in New York, but the drug charge was apparently dropped the same day. According to reports, the rapper Jeffery "Ja Rule" Atkins was driving his 2001 Mercedes Benz in Manhattan's Greenwich Village around 2:00 am, when police spotted him making an illegal lane change. When police searched the car, they found a small amount of marijuana. In addition to the drugs, Atkins had an open arrest warrant from June of 1996 for resisting arrest and was driving with a suspended license. He pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license and paid $550 worth of court fines, while the marijuana charges have apparantly been dropped. Ja Rule and his lawyer refused to comment after the hearing. The deep-throated, multi-platinum rapper also has acted in several movies, including The Fast and the Furious and Half Past Dead.
