New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ I AM PR Agency) Brooklyn-based band Aabaraki will release the eagerly anticipated new album The Emancipation on May 22nd. The genre-defying leading single from The Emancipation entitled "Danceshee" received exceptional critical acclaim from the band's fans. The video which premiered online on April 24th on Youtube surpassed 1,000 views in less than a week, was directed by Brian Robinson of Hyer Ground, and is a hilarious, attention-grabbing spoof on the old television show "COPS".
The four piece band Aabaraki describes their sound as alt-soul: "Gnarls Barkley meets the Black Keys".
Formed by guitarist Brian Forbes, vocalist/keyboardist Akie Bermiss, drummer Aaron Steele, and bassist Ari Folman-Cohen, Aabaraki released their self-titled debut EP in June 2011. The project received critical acclaim with features on OkayPlayer.com, 2DopeBoyz.com, Giantstep and many more. Aabaraki was also one of the featured artists of the Converse "Rubber Tracks" short-film series. Known for their remarkable live show, Aabaraki has also performed several times alongside Grammy nominated singer Emily King. The band is gearing to release their second album The Emancipation on May 22nd, 2012, and will embark on a nationwide tour shortly after.
