Thefuture.fm Launches as the First Platform to Legally Stream Mixed Audio from The World's Top DJs, Automating the Process of Compensating Rights Holders
New York, NY (Top40 Charts / Thefuture.fm) Thefuture.fm, the Internet radio platform that gives listeners mixed music curated by the world's top DJs, today launches as the first to automate the process of accurately identifying the content within mixed audio, generating reports and paying rights holders, thus eliminating the liability and roadblocks that have hindered the format. The foundation of this platform was originally built as Dubset, and has now evolved to become Thefuture.fm, which is launching with a completely overhauled platform, enhanced functionality, social sharing tools, an embeddable player, proprietary search and recommendation algorithm, and more music from the world's most prominent and talented DJs.

Thefuture.fm delivers to consumers a highly sought after variety of music formatted for easy searches, with the ability to share, follow and discover mixed audio on a single platform, from DJs of all genres and styles. Listeners can relive memorable DJ performances from music festivals, clubs or events - or experience those they've missed, all through Thefuture.fm. Individual tracks are available for purchase to consumers, who can also learn about upcoming performances by their favorite DJs. Genres represented span music mixes by electronic dance music heavyweights such as Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto, Skrillex to Indie rock curated by artists like Cobra Starship, Pete Wentz, RAC, Dragonette to notables like Open-Format and hip hop celebrity DJs such as Oprah and Barack Obama's DJ Cassidy.

"We're excited to officially launch the first platform to automate the process of rights flow management for mixed and long form audio. This enables consumers to discover new music played by the best DJs, who now have an easy and responsible way to share their mixes," said David Stein, founder and CEO of Thefuture.fm. "Thefuture.fm is the culmination of a very successful beta trial, that has been fine-tuned and refined based on feedback from the music industry, DJs and the listeners who follow them."

Thefuture.fm changes the way DJs and consumers share and listen to music while ensuring the artists whose songs are used in the mixes are compensated. The platform's proprietary fingerprinting and rights flow-management technology, MixSCAN, enables automated rights and royalty distribution to copyright holders. Member of BMI, SoundExchange, ASCAP, SESAC, and NARM, Thefuture.fm platform is the first phase of a multi-tiered approach to monetizing the mixtape for the music industry. It opens access for consumers to easily and legally find, share and enjoy mixtapes, while offering a liability-free way for DJs to promote themselves and brands to leverage their talents through the Web, mobile or at live events. At launch subscriptions will be free with near term plans for revenue streams in premium, mobile and brand supported offerings.

"Mashups and remix culture are important parts of the modern music experience. Digitalmusic.org is happy to have forward-thinking companies such as Thefuture.fm onboard to build businesses that not only give listeners what they want, but fairly compensate the owners of those rights," said Bill Wilson, Vice President, Digital Strategy and Business Development at Digitalmusic.org.
