NEW YORK (Universal/Motown Records) - Singer/songwriter/producer KEM strikes gold with his Universal/Motown debut release, Kemistry. Since its release, Kemistry has been steadily gaining fans. The single "Love Calls" became a staple on the adult contemporary charts by staying in the top 10 at Urban AC formats for more than 30 weeks. Kemistry plays out like a true Cindafella soundtrack. Initially released independently, it sold more than 10,000 copies, making "Love Calls" a local breakout hit. Motown Records signed KEM and re-released the album nationally. Without a video and the support of hip-hop driven radio stations, Kemistry, has defied the odds and remained a consistent seller since its release.
The second single, "Matter of Time," a smooth jazz influenced track was a No 1 Most Added song at Urban AC Radio. KEM wrote, produced and played keyboards on Kemistry, which is a 10-track CD that boasts live musicians and focuses on love, loss and redemption. He recently wrapped up a successfully 13-city tour with American Idol winner, Ruben Studdard, and has returned to the studio to work on his sophomore project.
