San Rafael, CA (Top40 Charts/ Osher Marin Jewish Community Center) They came to the US from cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a mixture of Latin rhythms, performed with Spanish guitars, a Cuban Tres, Peruvian cajón (box-drum), bass and harmonizing vocals. Vivacious and infectious, the sound of Los Pinguos has claimed fans worldwide with their exciting live performances
While performing, they were spotted by a talent scout who urged them to audition for a new television show, "The Next Big Star" produced by Ed McMahon. In spite of fierce competition and being the only Latin band to perform, Los Pinguo won the audience vote and took home the Grand Prize.
Since then, their music was featured in the Antonio Banderas &
Emma Thompson film, "Imaging Argentina" they were invited to the Sundance Film Festival to perform with Suzanne Vega, were signed to a major publishing deal and have been featured on two compilation CD's with Putamaya, the most established world music label.
These days Los Pinguos can be seen performing at World
Music Festivals to Performing Arts Centers across the nation and beyond.

The Kanbar Center for the Performing Arts is the Performing Arts Department within the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center in San Rafael, California. Originally known as "CenterStage" they have spread the power of music, voice, humor, taste, culture, movement and words throughout the community for over 20 years. Presentations include classical music, club style dancing events, comedy, musical concerts, film, theater and performance in the grand Hoytt Theater, lectures, chats and demonstrations in the Kurland lounge and great world music & dancing for all ages outdoors under summer skies on Swig Field. Centrally located in Marin County, the campus offers ample FREE parking and is just ¼ mile east of Hwy 101.
