Lil Kim barred from Caribbean concert

NEW YORK (NY Times) - A federal judge had denied permission for rap diva Lil' Kim to travel to the Caribbean to perform at a music festival while awaiting trial for perjury.

The New York times reported Saturday that earlier in court Friday, a man pleaded guilty to federal weapons charges in connection with a shootout in 2001 outside a Manhattan radio station where she had just performed.

Lil' Kim (29), whose real name is Kimberly Jones, was charged in April with perjury in connection with the shooting case.

Prosecutors accused her of lying to a grand jury about her relationship with two people involved in the shootout outside radio station Hot 97 (WQHT) in Manhattan. She pleaded not guilty and was released on personal recognizance bonds.

Judge Gerard E. Lynch decision to prevent Lil' Kim's travel to the Caribbean resort of St. Kitts will cost her $35,000 that she would have received for her appearance at the music festival, and makes her liable for monetary damages for failing to perform.
