NEW YORK (World Village Records) - The Barcelona collective Ojos de Brujo has landed in the Billboard World Music Top 15, edging in this week at No 15. Its chart success is remarkable for this group who eschewed major label interest in favor of the independent World Village, a division of the primarily classical Harmonia Mundi label. The band's domestic debut "Bari" (released on May 11th) is already well on its way to showing American audiences why the group's unique "jip-jop flamenquillo" is, as Vibe magazine says, "flamenco's funky future." Their live show (featuring DJ, MC, light show and flamenco dancer) is legendary - their July dates include a return to Chicago, where police shut down their concert debut last February for overcrowding.
