Miles Davis Protege Wallace Roney Sextet To To Launch "Templar Jazz Series" At Detroit's Historic Masonic Temple On Dec. 30 & 31
DETROIT, MI (Top40 Charts/ On The Rocks DETROIT) Miles Davis Protégé Wallace Roney Sextet To To Launch "Templar Jazz Series" At Detroit's Historic Masonic Temple On Dec. 30 & 31The Detroit Masonic Temple Theatre Company will launch the Templar Jazz Series on Friday, December 30 and Saturday, December 31, 2011. Internationally renowned jazz trumpet player and Miles Davis protégé Wallace Roney will perform with his sextet inside the Knights Templar Chapel for two incredible nights of exhilarating live music.

On Friday, December 30, the Wallace Roney Sextet will perform two shows at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $28 (standing room), $38 (balcony,) and $48 (main floor.) Patrons attending the first show can stay for the second show for a nominal fee of $15.

On Saturday, December 31, the Wallace Roney Sextet will host a festive New Year's Celebration that includes a sumptuous buffet at 7 p.m., concert at 9 p.m., and big screen viewing of the ball drop from Times Square (along with party favors) following the concert. Tickets are $63 (main floor), and $53 (balcony) for the concert only, and an additional $20.12 for dinner buffet.

Both nights will include a post-show meet and greet with the band, including photo opportunities, in addition to three fully stocked cash bars. Valet parking will be available.

Tickets for all three shows are now available through Ticketmaster and at the Masonic Temple box office.

Wallace Roney is an acclaimed jazz trumpet player who is currently touring the world in support of his latest CD, "If Only For One Night." As Miles Davis' only chosen protégé, Roney has had the honor of performing with his legendary mentor at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Roney has also appeared with the biggest names in jazz, including Herbie Hancock, Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespsie, and Chick Corea. Performing hundreds of shows a year, Roney is dedicated to pushing jazz to even greater heights.

Templar Jazz Series Director Stephen Badalament is thrilled to present the concerts within the magnificence (and rarely open to the public) of the Knights Templar Chapel. "This is the first ticketed event in the history of the Templar Chapel," notes Badalament. "As such, we are offering music that will not only be worthy of this room and which respects the sanctity of the space, but that also represents the apex of jazz performance." Badalament has plans to bring in the top echelon of jazz artists for future Templar Jazz Series concerts, including such artists as The Buster Williams Quartet, Cindy Blackman-Santana's band Another Lifetime, and Lenny White and Anomoly.

"The Wallace Roney Sextet is a benchmark" for the series, which Badalament adds will feature "the world's best jazz artists."

Don't miss a magical night of jazz performance and festivities inside the Masonic Temple.

This historic Masonic Temple of Detroit is located at 500 Temple Street. For more information, please call the box office at 313-638-2724 or TICKETMASTER at 800-753-3000/www.tickemaster.com.
