New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Capitol Records) THE GREAT ESCAPE ARTIST (Capitol)—the first studio album by JANE'S ADDICTION in eight years—will have its world premiere exclusively on the iTunes Store (www.itunes.com) starting today, Tuesday, October 11, streamed free in its entirety for one week leading up its October 18 in-store release date. THE GREAT ESCAPE ARTIST has been mastered specifically for iTunes to optimize sound quality when downloaded. Here's the album at this link: https://www.itunes.com/JanesAddiction
JANE'S ADDICTION lead guitarist DAVE NAVARRO says, "We are psyched that people will have a chance to hear our whole album before they buy it and we applaud iTunes for standing up for great audio too."
THE GREAT ESCAPE ARTIST—the band's fourth studio album--features the transfixing "Irresistible Force," a Top Ten hit on the alternative rock chart. The album was produced by Rich Costey (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol), with TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek on the creative team. Sitek, best known for his production work for TV on the Radio,
Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Foals, is writing, programming, and playing bass on the album. The buzz on the album is growing; see the early praise below.
On the touring front, the pioneering alt-rock band--frontman Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins, along with Chris Chaney on bass—recently sold out two shows in both
Chicago (September 24 and 25, Metro) and Los Angeles (October 3 and 4, John Anson Ford Theatre) which were rapturously received by the band's fans. Next, they head into New York City for two sold-out shows Monday, October 17 and Tuesday, October 18 at Irving Plaza as part of their third and final pair of small venue shows with Citi to mark the release of THE GREAT ESCAPE ARTIST. In 2012, JANE'S ADDICTION will embark on a world tour.
Here's the early praise for THE GREAT ESCAPE ARTIST:
"…it finds the band as hungry as they are confident….the band eagerly pushes itself into new territory, seemingly more interested in delivering another visceral gut punch to a once-again sagging rock landscape than in merely serving up a nostalgia trip. Of course there's enough Jane's DNA on this album that it works as the latter as well, if that's what you came for. Despite the varying tempos, the album never really lets up in intensity. In fact, thanks to the driving nature of closing track 'Words Right Out Of My Mouth' the album goes out with a bang."

"Guitar god Dave Navarro's thunderous fretwork raises the curtain for The Great Escape Artist. As a wall of warm distortion builds, galactic bells pierce through as Perry Farrell begins a vocal love letter to the "
Underground" that figures so prominently in his lyrics. Navarro's lead cuts through the haze with a controlled chaos as Farrell delivers one of his most potent choruses to date exclaiming, I try and get some love from up high. There just ain't enough to go around.' Just as the drama reaches a climax, everything subsides into a psychedelic tribal drum break from Stephen Perkins. It's intense, infectious, and immortally incredible. It's
Jane's Addiction at their finest…Jane's Addiction have architected another timeless record by simply doing what they do best—being 'real.' Behind every verse and riff, there's a surprise. The Great Escape Artist will live with listeners forever because of that honesty."

"The Great Escape Artist is a dynamic collection that features some of the band's best work."
--BILLBOARD.COM, October 8, 2011
"…a surge of tectonic groove and narcotic atmosphere…an invitingly streamlined set…."
