LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ BBC Radio 1 Press Release) On Friday morning (September 16th), on The Chris Moyles Show, Nick Grimshaw announced the exciting line up for this year's BBC Radio 1's Teen Awards at Wembley Arena, London, on Sunday 9 October 2011. Nick also revealed that Mollie King from The Saturdays will be co-host for the annual event which celebrates the achievements of inspirational teens alongside awards for top stars from the worlds of music, sport and entertainment.

Joining headliner Pixie Lott on the bill this year will be R&B pop heavyweight Jason Derulo alongside some of 2011's biggest breakthrough artists, including singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran and party hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks. They will be joined by two of the most talked about acts from 2010's X-Factor alumni; feisty chart-topper Cher Lloydand boy band of the moment One Direction. Newly solo singer and US heart-throb Joe Jonas completes the dazzling line up at what's sure to be one of the biggest events in the pop music calendar with an audience of 8,000 14-17 year olds.

Nick Grimshaw says: "This is one of my favourite events in Radio 1's calendar. A whole load of pop stars, some very special teen heroes and thousands of screaming teenagers It's gonna get noisy!"

Mollie King says: "I am really thrilled to be co-hosting the Radio 1 Teen Awards with Nick Grimshaw this year. There's a really great line up and its fantastic that the awards celebrate amazing teenagers who deserve to be recognised."

The centrepiece of Radio 1's Teen Awards will be the recognition of three very special Teen Heroes. These were nominated by Radio 1 listeners and chosen by a panel of celebrities, Radio 1 and 1Xtra DJs and experts from youth organisations. Winners will also be crowned for Best British Single, Best British Album, Best British TV Show, Best British Actor, Best British Music Act and Best British Young Sports Star as voted by Radio 1 listeners.

Liam Payne from One Direction says: "I've always wanted to go to the Teen Awards and now we're playing at them! The line up is incredible - we're very honoured to be part of such a huge event. Massive thanks to Radio 1 for inviting us and we can't wait to see our fans at Wembley."

Radio 1 will be bringing listeners all the fun from the awards ceremony with Greg James and Huw Stephens live on-air from 12noon on Sunday 9 October and the whole show will be available to watch via a live stream on bbc.co.uk/radio1.
