New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Digital Music Doctor announces the results of the Music Software Internet Popularity Index for the second quarter of 2011. Avid Pro Tools remains at the top of the rankings. FL Studio moved up to second place, pushing Steinberg Cubase and Cakewalk Sonar down to the third and fourth slots. Google made a major revision to its estimating algorithm in May 2011 which had a significant impact on the rankings of all products. In order to provide continuity with previous data, the index is now being reported as an annual moving average of four quarters.
The ten most popular music software products on the Internet, based on recent search engine activity, are:

This index is based on a quarterly moving average of annual Internet search activity on Google, Yahoo, Microsoft and AOL. Collectively these 4 search engines represent approximately 95 percent of the searches on the Internet. Over 100 search terms are used to construct this index, and 15 music software products are tracked. Current quarter data is also included for comparison. The following table shows a complete list of the products tracked as well as the changes in their annual average ranking from the prior quarter.
