LOS ANGELES (OutKast Fans Website) - Andre 3000 of the platinum-plus duo Outkast, who've taken over the Billboard charts with their lastest album, is now headed to Hollywood for his first starring role. Andre will play the lead role for the "Untitled Andre Benjamin Project," which is expected to start production in New Orleans in September. The film is a love story, where two lovers go against the race and class struggles of the '70s. Andre will be playing a musician named Valentine, who is in love with a white, free-spirited, lower-class woman named Chevon. Both families of the characters are very much opposed to the relationship, and after the shooting of Chevon's brother, Valentine is blamed and the two go on the run. The film will be Andre's first starring role, who has also played bit parts for such movies as "Hollywood Homicide" and the upcoming sequel to "Get Shorty" titled "Be Cool." There are also rumors that Andre will be producing a solo soundtrack for the new film, but these rumors haven't been confirmed.
