NEW YORK (Blink-182 Fans Website) - Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has launched his own label called La Salle Records. Travis Barker, best known for being Blink-182's drummer, has just launched his own record label, which will be distributed via Atlantic Records. Dubbed La Salle Records, the fledgling imprint has already signed its first two acts in the form of the bands The Kinison and The Nervous Return. In addition to those two bands, La Salle Records will also be releasing the Transplants upcoming sophomore album. When asked what spurred the creation of La Salle, Barker was straight and to the point: "I wanted to put out great music. What artist wouldn't want to help another artist with creative freedom? I saw The Nervous Return 4 years ago and they were the reason I started a label in the first place. I saw The Kinison in a club in Riverside, CA 3 years ago and it's the best live band I've seen in 5 years." The Kinison's debut album, What Are You Listening To?, will be released in May. As for The Nervous Return, the band just finished recording their album and will be appearing on the side stage of the No Doubt/Blink-182 tour. And you can expect The Transplants to begin the recording of their next album in the coming months with a scheduled release date pending for later this year.
As for Barker's initial signings, both The Kinison and The Nervous Return are quite musically different from that of either Blink-182 or The Transplants. Barker claims he's not signing any specific genre of music, just great music of any genre.
