Wynton Marsalis Returns To Harvard This Fall After Sold-out Lecture Debut
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) This September, Wynton Marsalis will return to Harvard University after an ecstatic reception to his debut lecture 'Music As Metaphor' in front of a sold-out crowd in Sanders Theatre.

The lecture was the first in a two-year series from the Pulitzer Prize-winning musician and composer whose appointment by Harvard University President Drew Faust is centered on promoting cultural literacy in education.

During the lecture, Marsalis demonstrated how fundamental elements of music can be used as metaphors for the American identity and democracy. "Though we may have lost the ability to hear the meanings in our music," Marsalis said, "it still speaks to us." Joining him during the performance were Ali Jackson (drums), Dan Nimmer (piano), Walter Blanding (tenor sax), Carlos Henriquez (bass), James Chirillo (guitar and banjo) and Mark O'Connor (violin).

This fall, Marsalis will return to Harvard for the second lecture in the series.
