Nashville, TN (Top40 Charts/ AIMP) The
National chapter of the Association of Independent
Music Publishers (AIMP), with generous support from ASCAP, BMI and SESAC, will present its first ever panel discussion in Nashville,
Music Supervision: Tips On Placing Songs in Film and TV, on Tuesday June 14, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at The
Embassy Suites Vanderbilt (room: Commodore A & B) in Nashville.
This panel is being presented to introduce publishers and associated professionals to the AIMP and to create interest in forming a local chapter in Nashville. The AIMP has long been active in New York and Los Angeles, with a full schedule of monthly panels and special events, providing its members and the music community at large a forum for the exchange of information and ideas, the mission of the AIMP. Representatives from the AIMP will be on hand to answer questions about the organization and the proposed establishment of a Nashville chapter.
"One of the AIMP's long-term goals is to establish a Nashville chapter that would operate alongside chapters in Los Angeles and New York," said AIMP President Richard Feldman. "With recent encouragement from local publishers here in Nashville, it is time to make this a reality. We believe that the music community here will find value and benefits in the organization's panels, networking, and advocacy initiatives."
The Nashville panel features industry experts, including music supervisors and recording artist Jace Everett, whose swampy song "Bad Things" became a hit when it was chosen as the opening theme to HBO's True Blood, weigh in on the fine art of music supervision, current trends, tips on placing songs in film and TV, and opportunities specifically for Nashville-based talent.
AIMP board member and Primary Wave GM West Coast, Michelle Belcher, who heads the firm's Film & TV department and has music supervised films District 9 and The Resident, will moderate. Panelists include music supervisors Gary Calamar, president Go Music (True Blood, Dexter, House), Andrea von Foerster (O.C., Grey's Anatomy, 500 Days Of Summer), Tony von Pervieux, creative director, TV music, ABC Entertainment Group (Cougar Town, Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy), and Everett, who released his third CD, Red Revelations on the Weston Boys label in 2010. Panelist bios can be viewed on the registration page of the AIMP website.
The Embassy Suites Vanderbilt is located at: 1811 Broadway, in Nashville.
Admission for this event is free, please register on the AIMP website.
